Let's Play Polo is my first foray into Social Practice Art. To celebrate my birthday in 2015, I invited friends, family, and strangers to join me at museums and galleries, connected not by place but by shared activity and, crucially, matching yellow polos. Inspired by an actual coincidence years earlier at the Tate Modern, where a chance encounter with strangers in identical shirts created an unexpected sense of collective identity, I became interested in facilitating that kind of seeming randomness: linking people not to a location but to an event, a gesture, a shared uniform.
